Carratraw Canoe / Kayak Courses
Our Personal Proficiency Courses will introduce you to the fun and excitement of paddling your own kayak. Our coaches will go through the basics stokes, advise you on clothing and safety equipment.
Our introductory courses cover skills from the level 1&2 skills awards in general purpose kayaks. You learn how to control your boat going forwards and backwards, how to turn and move sideways and what to do if you capsize. Safety is of paramount importance and instructors cover topics such as the basic safety rules of canoeing and appropriate safety equipment. You will do plenty of paddling and by the end of the course you will have a good foundation to progress in the sport.
The courses are run at Carratraw Bridge on the edge of Lough Erne, lovely clean water on a secluded river making it an ideal location to enjoy the thrill of learning a new skill.
Excellent qualified instructors that are enthusiastic and experienced to ensure you are safe, learn the fundamental techniques, and the simple safety rules that will help you enjoy a lifetime of water activities.
Our introductory courses provide all the equipment you need – kayak, paddle, wetsuit, waterproof paddle jacket, buoyancy aid and helmet. Changing facilities are available at Carratraw Canoe Centre.
